Tips for buying Infant Incubator • These units circulate heated air over the skin to provide a closed, controlled environment that warms an infant. • The temperature range of the incubator in the manual mode should be at least 23°C and should not exceed 37°C. This can be overridden, up to 39°C, by a special action of the operator. There must be an alarm every 15 seconds, with an automatic heater shutoff if the alarm does not reset within 3-5 minutes. • The temperature range should be 35°C or less to 37°C or more in the servo-controlled mode. The unit should display measurements and adjustments in increments of 0.1°C. The skin temperature monitoring should be displayed in 0.1°C increments. • Alarms should sound in the following events: high air temperature, low air temperature, high skin temperature, low skin temperature, fan failure, sensor failure, and power failure. A backup thermostat should be available, and shielding if a light bulb breaks or bursts.
